Born and raised in Germany, Heymann was classically trained on the piano before moving to the Netherlands to study composition for media at the University of Arts Utrecht. Having received a Bachelor of music with honors and a Master of Arts degree, he continued his study of film scoring at the renowned University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in the US.
In Los Angeles, he has recorded his music with some of the finest musicians in Hollywood.
His credits include scores for award-winning short movies, documentaries, trailers and commercials. He has done orchestrations for AAA games like “The Elder Scrolls: Online” and worked in the music department of Hollywood movies such as the latest “Smurfs” film.
As a composer and orchestrator, Heymann also works with music producer and trailer music composer J2 on numerous trailer albums.
Furthermore, he regularly provides music for Chinese documentaries and feature movies.
In 2019, he collaborated with Grammy-nominated cellist Christine H. Kim on the album “Reminiscences” .
The score for the documentary “Light Chaser” that he worked on together with composer Nancy Li, won the award for “Best Music” at the “China Academy Awards of Documentary Film” in 2020.
Heymann was also a finalist at the International Gil Soundtrack Award with a jury chaired by oscar winner Hildur Guðnadóttir.
In 2018, he received a ‘Hollywood Music in Media Award’ (HMMA) nomination and his fourth Global Music Award.
For his rescoring of the Oscar winning animation “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore”, he was nominated at the international “Transatlantyk Film Music Competition” in 2016.
