David Heymann is a two-time Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) nominated German-Armenian composer for film and TV based in Los Angeles.
He has worked on several TV shows and movies for the Asian streaming giant iQIYI, including the award-winning Chinese drama series My Journey To You, while his work for the documentary Light Chaser, in collaboration with composer He Li, won the ‘China Academy Awards of Documentary Film‘ for the best music. As part of J2Entertainment, David has contributed to multiple trailer albums, with placements in productions by Netflix, HBO, Peacock, and more. His music has been recorded with ensembles around the world including the Budapest Scoring Orchestra and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
As an orchestrator, he worked on the globally popular game Elder Scrolls: Online and later joined the music department for Sony Pictures‘ third installment of the Smurfs movie.
In 2019, he collaborated with Grammy-nominated cellist Christine H. Kim on the album Reminiscences.
In 2022, Oscar winning director and composer Alejandro Amenábar presented him with the Gil Soundtrack Award, the largest film scoring competition prize in the world.
David is a voting member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs), and the World Soundtrack Academy, and an affiliate of BMI.
